The medical landscape has witnessed one of the biggest collaborations of our times as tech-giants – Medtronic and Philips have tied up for combined initiatives or innovations in the field of cardiac imaging. The companies have signed a MOU to enhance the clinician training in this field for structural heart diseases in India. This program will empower the skills of more than two hundred cardiologists and radiologists in multi-modality imaging that is focused on echocardiography and MRI specifically designed for patients with End Stage Renal Disease ( ESRD).
The training program will feature theoretical and practical sessions using Philips' ultrasound and MRI systems, led by international and Indian experts. Workshops will be conducted at 15 key medical institutions specializing in structural heart procedures.
This collaboration addresses the critical need for advanced imaging solutions in India, where 2.2 lakh new ESRD cases are reported annually. The partnership leverages Medtronic’s TAVR system and Philips’ AI-driven imaging software, which minimizes reliance on nephrotoxic contrast agents, to improve patient outcomes.
