An Australian man has become the first person in the world to be discharged from hospital with an artificial heart made of titanium. This heart-like device called- BiVACOR is used as a temporary adjustment for people who are waiting for a donor heart. The survival of the man for over 100 days with this heart and his remarkable recovery have heralded the openings of new chapters in the field of medical science.
The staff at St.Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney have been blessed to be part of this historic moment and are completely satisfied with the present state of the patient’s health after he underwent a surgery to receive a donated human heart. The man also makes history as the sixth person to receive the device and the first one to live with it more than a month.

BiVACOR was invented by biomedical engineer Daniel Timms, who founded a company named after the device. The device is a total heart replacement and works as a continuous pump in which a magnetically suspended rotor propels blood in regular pulses throughout the body. The device and its working are easily far more efficient and effective when compared to most conventional machines made for this purpose.
